Panda Antivirus

Entensys has partnered with Panda Software to provide Antivirus scanning functionality for UserGate.

Panda Security is one of the world's leading IT security providers, with millions of clients across more than 200 countries and products available in 23 languages. Its mission is to develop and provide global solutions to keep clients' IT resources free from the damage inflicted by viruses and other computer threats, at the lowest possible total cost of ownership.

Panda Security proposes a new security model, designed to offer a robust solution to the latest cyber-crime techniques. This is manifest in the performance of the company's technology and products, with detection ratios well above average market standards and most importantly, providing greater security for its clients.

The Panda Antivirus engine is imbedded into UserGate Proxy with its detection and disinfection capabilities so that Panda Software acts as a filter that intercepts all malware in any of the data transferred through the major Internet protocols. From all traffic it selects only those objects, which could possibly be a threat and analyzes them for viruses and spyware. The network administrator has the option to exclude specific users from this general checking.

The target of the antivirus scan engine has always been threats technically known as Trojans, worms or viruses. UserGate with Panda Scan Engine built-in allows you to detect all types of threats based on the content of the file, regardless of the appearance of the file, such as its name or extension. UserGate is now also capable of updating and detecting malware in packed (compressed) formats (ZIP, RAR, ARJ, ARC, BZIP2, LHA, CAB, ZOO, LZOP) as well as other popular file formats, such as DOC, PDF, CHM, TAR, RTF, Quake, etc.

Along with the built-in Panda Antivirus, this new version of UserGate 4.3 is empowered with several new weapons including managing of traffic speeds by means of NAT (Network Address translation) drivers and the filtering of IP addresses through NAT. The new UserGate lets you store all available IP addresses in a database along with information such as DNS servers, subnet masks, and gateways. If all that weren’t enough, this UserGate version allows viewing by IP address (double click on a row of the report), setting up weekly traffic quotes, and many others.

This new version includes a number of bugs fixed, such as UDP port mapping performance, Fire Fox operating with FTP usage over HTTP, statistic mode improvements, and many others.

Updates to the antivirus database can be performed either automatically or manually from the Entensys website.
